One of the big changes is LOTS and LOTS of yummy quilt photos. Since starting Whimzie Quiltz in 2004, I’ve made over 200+ quilts and many of the more recent ones haven’t been featured online. The homepage alone has 4 new quilts never included on my website until now.
At the same time, I updated the site’s overall design. Webpages in general have evolved over the last 13 years, but whimziequiltz.com definitely had not. My new online presence is streamlined (from 21 different pages to 7!) and much more modern. I especially love the contemporary layout of Whimzie Quiltz gallery with it’s emphasis on happy customers and their warm and whimzical quilts.
I didn’t change everything, though – you’ll find that I still offer free custom quilt designs with no obligation to purchase. And if you do decide to work with me, it’s still super easy to order your own custom Whimzie quilt. Old website or new, I’m dedicated to “creating the quilt you’ve always wanted” and I always will be.
With the 13th anniversary of Whimzie Quiltz approaching, I started to realize exactly how much things have changed – not necessarily with the quilting side of my business, but with the Internet-side. The website I first designed and coded in 2004 went away pretty quickly, but WQ 2.0 is looking dated and old-fashioned, too.
So I’m in the middle of a drastic overhaul, modernizing and updating my website for 2017 – and I’d love your input!
Currently, two pages are “live” (or up on the web, although the links on each page still go to the current Whimzie Quiltz website.)
You can visit the proposed homepage here and the new gallery here. Let me know what you think in the comments – I’d especially like to know if the updated design makes you more (or less) likely to purchase a custom quilt online, but I appreciate any feedback you have!
